Rice paper rolls automatically

A challenge in labor:

A customer, a specialist in Asian delicacies in France, was facing a challenge as the spring rolls made with “rice paper” sheets are a primary product of theirs, which takes a lot of labor. The need for automation and efficiency led the customer to consult Cabinplant for a customized and secure solution.

Meeting demands of automation:

To meet the customer’s wishes, Cabinplant’s challenge was to add rice paper sheets automatically, add the filling, and shape the spring roll afterward to minimize labor costs and increase production efficiency.

Delivering the best solution:

Due to the very fragile rice paper, which is supplied to the line in stacks of 500pcs. Cabinplant came up with a solution where we use a robot with a unique picking tool, which can take six sheets/pick and add it to our standard spring roll belt, which has its regular features. A minor feature was added in front of the belt: a steam tunnel to soften the sheets, creating a consistency in the sheet that can be folded. Creating an automated production process that requires less labor and has a more significant product outcome.

The Result:

With the Rice Paper Roll Machine | Cabinplant, each line produces 90 to 100 rolls/min. of spring rolls made of rice paper sheets, resulting in higher efficiency and a cut in labor costs. The customer has six lines today, with the latest units to be installed in August 2025.
