Flotation washer (flume)

The flotation washer is designed to wash/clean strawberries, plums, cherries, dates, mushrooms and similar products. This involves removal of particles, either lighter or heavier than the product, e.g. leaves, straw, stones, sand, etc.

The product is carried forward on a segment belt by means of re-circulated water. A pipe system with nozzles agitates the product to improve the quality of the washing process.

The flotation washer consists of

  • Infeed flume to ensure a uniform flow of vegetables and water into the flume
  • Stone belt on which stones, rubble and mud are deposited and regularly conveyed out of the washing section
  • Sand traps to remove sand and other objects smaller than 4.5 mm through wedge wire screens
  • Defoaming tray (peas only)
  • Dam plate to adjust the water level in the flume

The flotation washer can be designed to match any desired capacity.

Option: The flotation washer can be supplied together with a water recovery system. This can be especially useful in areas where water supply is scarce or water costs are high.
