Lye peeler The Cabinplant lye peeler is designed to remove the skin from mackerel before cooking and canning.
The fish is conveyed continuously through a heated lye bath for a few minutes, until the skin is dissolved. The fish is then transferred to a bath of acid to neutralize the pH level. Between the two sections the fish is rinsed with fresh water to wash off skin residues.
The capacity is approx. 2500 kg/h, and the system can be designed to meet customer's specific needs.
The lye peeler is equipped with: - Three through-going stainless steel belts with flights
- Two integrated vessels for lye and acid, respectively, divided by a middle section with a fresh water spray system
- A complete steam system for direct steam injection in the lye vessel
- The lye peeling vessel is insulated on the sides and equipped with lids
