Fruit de-stalker

Screw de-stalker

Cabinplant can provide different fruit de-stalkers to mechanically remove stalks and calyx from berries and some fruit during IQF processing.

Screw de-stalker

The screw de-stalker is simple and cost-efficient to use, has a high capacity and is easy to clean. It is normally integrated into a processing line and placed immediately after a post freezer as the berries/fruit must have a very low temperature of approx. -30°C to achieve optimum results.

De-stalking is accomplished by rotating the frozen product over a perforated U-shaped trough by means of a rotating screw. This results in a "shaving" effect of the product, whereby stalks and calyx drop through the perforated U-shaped trough.

The machine is inclined in order to achieve a controlled retention time as well as a simultaneous elevator function.

The rotation speed of the screw is controlled by a frequency inverter.

The screw de-stalker is available for capacities up to 8.000 kg/h.

Drum de-stalker

The drum de-stalker is sometimes used as an alternative to the screw de-stalker, as it is possible to combine this machine with other product cleaning operations in the factory.

The drum de-stalker is placed after the post freezer to ensure a temperature of approx. -30°C for optimum results.

De-stalking is accomplished by rotating the frozen product inside the perforated drum, causing the stalks and calyx to drop from the holes in the drum. The machine is declined  in order to achieve a controlled retention time for the product.

The rotation speed of the drum is controlled by means of a frequency inverter.

The drum de-stalker is available for capacities up to 6.000 kg/h.
